A little about me

Hello, I'm Derek Owen, I was born in England, have a traditional English accent and have also spent a lot of time in different parts of the World. I run nativeenglish.eu, teach in a couple of schools and also around the world using Skype and Google Talk. I write business and children's books, I do voice recordings for several universities and design and deliver soft skills training and leadership courses.

One of my interests and passions in life is helping people to develop and improve their skills. Native English was set up to help students learn English in a motivational, interesting and dynamic way, mainly online using Skype, Google Talk and email.

I have over 25 years experience of developing the skills of people in areas such as:

• Set up several training and coaching businesses
• Worked as a Managing Director for a training company
• Set up a customer service skills training business
• Worked as a business consultant and project manager
• Managed and developed teams of sales people and trainers
• Trained over 30,000 people in a range of skills and knowledge areas
• I have advised and sold, life, pension and investment products
• Written a few business books and a series of stories for children
• Developed two soft skills training programmes
